The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Sligo has been closed for the past six months.

A Fine Gael councillor brought forward a motion ahead of a busy festival in Drumshanbo.

The plan, put forward by Seán Mulryan's Ballymore Group, would aim to cater for a population of 100,000 by 2040.
