The council has signed off on a three-year crackdown against the issue - with 570 complaints received last year.

A Roscommon councillor is calling for those repeatedly caught littering to be jailed. The council has signed off on a three-year crackdown against the issue - with 570 complaints received last year.

People caught littering can be fined 150 euro - which can increase to 4,000 euro in court. But Independent councillor Tom Crosby, from Tarmonbarry, says stiffer punishments are needed:
