The number of litter complaints made to Roscommon County Council increased by almost a quarter last year. There were 464 in 2023 and 570 last year, when only 57 fines were issued.
The council says there's a lot of litter from take-away and fast-food outlets. Greg O'Donnell is a senior executive officer in the council's environment and climate department:
