A school in Co. Longford is set to receive €20,000 to enhance safety at its premises. The funding was allocated to St. Earnan's National School in Killashee under the Safe Routes to School scheme. The scheme was developed in partnership by the NTA and An Taisce in 2020 as a response to the need to support schools to increase walking and cycling among students.
The allocation comes following many efforts by board of management to enhance safety at the Killashee school. Local councillor Sean Mimnagh is urging motorists to respect speed limits, especially near school zones:
