The fallout continues into an 'enforcement operation' carried out by the Department of Agricuulture on county a Roscommon farm. Dozens of cows were destroyed by Department officials following animal welfare concerns at the farm. Videos circulating on social media show the operation was carried out with support and assistance from Gardaí.
The methods by which the animals were handled and killed sparked a strong reaction from the IFA and others. A meeting between IFA delegates and officials from the Department of Agriculture has taken place.
