Councillor David Cassidy brought the motion to the May Meeting of Longford County Council this week.

A total of 2,989 new private tenancies were recorded across both counties in the first three months of 2025.

At a meeting of Longford County Council yesterday, IDA management confirmed that the site, which is near Longford Town and within the N4 bypass, is in the final stages of being secured. 

Micheal, a son of Leitrim councillor Brendan Barry and his wife Nicola, was born with a rare genetic deletion syndrome.

Housing, entertainment and transport infrastructure must be increased in the county to support workforce growth.

County planners will decide on the issue in July with submissions open on the application for the next four weeks.

The facility has long been called for by local representatives who believe the site could become home to a large scale employer in the county.

Mairead Kenny who ran in the Seanad elections earlier this year, has formally expressed an interest in the position.
