The location of an IDA Ireland advanced factory in Longford shows the vital importance of progressing the N4 Mullingar to Longford road upgrade as quickly as possible.
That's according to Fine Gael TD Micheál Carrigy who says that any potential client for the proposed factory will be looking for good transport links as a priority.
Work on the project was paused over 2 years ago, with fears the design process and works would not materialise.
As part of the TII Road Project allocations for 2024, 1.4 million euro in funding was allocated to it, with a further 2.4 million euro funded in March.
At a meeting of Longford County Council yesterday, IDA management confirmed that the site, which is near Longford Town and within the N4 bypass, is in the final stages of being secured.
