Cllr Micheál Frain says tougher enforcement is needed for what has become a major problem in the west Roscommon town.

It will be open seven days a week, from 8am to 10pm, on a self-service basis outside of normal staffed hours.

Cllr Marty McDermott told a recent Roscommon Municipal District meeting that users of the service weren't being given enough time in local towns.

The total amount settled by the local authority last year over insurance claims increased by almost a third last year.

She says there are no footpaths on Felton Road and only one on Tarmon Road.

The default limit will drop from 80 to 60 in November, unless special speed limits are adopted by councils.
