Roscommon County Council has bought 13 derelict houses in an unfinished estate in Ballaghaderreen. The local authority has purchased the homes in Shannon Valley, off the Sligo Road, after an agreement with the receiver and an insolvency firm.
The council will now refurbish the houses and let them out as social homes. Local Sinn Fein TD Ballaghaderreen Claire Kerrane says it is positive news for the town:
