Parents of existing children born under current rules will also be recognised as the child's parents.

Michael Glennon, IFA Sheep Committee Representative and Roscommon sheep farmer, says that these incidents are extremely worrying for farmers.

Plans put forward for the site include the construction of a mixed use two storey terraced block incorporating a retail/commercial space on ground floor and a 1 bedroom apartment on the first floor.

The IFA say checking livestock regularly and making sure boundaries are secure can help combat theft of cattle.

Retailers are warned to be aware of the incident.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The IFA is also calling on the Department to ensure farmers receive payment.
