Plans put forward for the site include the construction of a mixed use two storey terraced block incorporating a retail/commercial space on ground floor and a 1 bedroom apartment on the first floor.

Planning permission has been approved for the demolition of a well known Longford Hotel.

The Park House Hotel in Edgeworthstown has been closed for a number of years after close to 4 decades in operation.

Mayer Oval Ltd had submitted an application to Longford County Planners for the demolition of the former hotel and out buildings on the town's main street.

Plans put forward for the site include the construction of a mixed use two storey terraced block incorporating a retail/commercial space on ground floor and a 1 bedroom apartment on the first floor.

Also included on the site would be 7 two storey 2 bedroom homes and one single storey two bedroom house.

The application was the subject of submissions against the development, with concerns over the disturbance to the adjoining property, a loss of parking on the street and the ability for the towns waste water treatment plant to manage the new units.

However, County planners have today approved the plans for the demolition and subsequent construction with 16 conditions attached.
