Roscommon see off Mayo to land U20 title

Roscommon landed the 2021 Connacht U20 championship after a 2-11 to 1-7 win over Mayo in McHale Park.

It took until after the first water break for Roscommon to register their first scores of the contest. However it was the young rossie’s who led five points to four at the break.

The game moved in Roscommon’s favour on 42 minutes as Adam McDermott landed Roscommon’s first goal of the game.

Mayo had a chance to respond immediately but Conor Carroll saved Jack Mahon’s penalty.

McDermott was crucial to the play again setting up James Fitzpatrick for Roscommon’s second goal 10 minutes from time.

Connell Dempsey converted a Mayo penalty as they rallied but it wasn’t enough as Roscommon lifted the Connacht U20 title for the first time.
