Boyle opened the Roscommon senior football champions with an impressive two point win over Roscommon Gaels.
Boyle winning out 2-13 to 15 points. Cian McKeon landed a goal five minutes before half-time saw the side level 1-6 to nine points at half-time.
Enda Smith landed a brilliant individual goal as Boyle moved clear in the second-half. However Mark Purcell inspired Gaels back into the contest.

Elsewhere on opening night in Group B, Michael Glaveys scored a big win over Western Gaels and St. Brigids had too much for Elphin. In group A, St Faithleachs stunned Padraig Pearses and Clann na nGael go the better of St Dominics.
