People who need to attend Sligo University Hospital are being urged to take all Covid precautions as the hospital copes with a major surge in positive patients.
According to the HSE, a total of 17 people are being treated for Covid in the north west facility at present, which is the second highest figure of any hospital in the country.
The head of the Saolta group of hospitals Tony Canavan has urged people to be particularly vigilant if attending Sligo University Hospital for appointments or as a visitor in light of growing Covid cases in the north-west.
People are asked to be mindful of others when attending SUH and to follow all guidelines.
They are being asked not to attend if you are showing any symptoms and do not visit patients if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 case.
By 8pm on Tuesday, there was a total of 16 cases at SUH, the second highest total in the country with three people in ICU being treated for the disease.
Mullingar was the only other hospital in this region with a single patient in ICU as of Monday evening.
Monaghan recorded 245 Covid cases in the last week with 219 in Cavan.
In the last seven days 184 cases in Roscommon have been confirmed as well 97 in Longford and 67 in Leitrim.
170 cases have occurred in Sligo, 145 in Westmeath and 370 in County Louth.
Monaghan has the second worst incidence rate per 100,000 people in the country with a five day moving average of 44 cases.
