A Granard festival will feature a variety of writer workshops, music sessions and talks this weekend.
Ireland's first booktown festival takes place in the town from across the weekend at locations including the local library, The Bailey Cafe and Fay's Bar.
The three day event is inspired by the global booktown movement in Scotland and aims to boost Longford's tourism.

Special guests includes Champion Football writer Rick O'Shea, Tipperary novelist Donal Ryan and Longford native and Journalist Shaunagh Connaire.
