The Cabinet sub-committee on education will meet today to discuss plans for the phased reopening of schools, as well as the fate of the traditional state exams in June.

Talks are continuing on the prospect of bringing back children with additional education needs after plans for a return were scrapped last month.

Meanwhile, students are calling for clarity from Education Minister Norma Foley on the Leaving and Junior Cert exams.

President of teacher's union the ASTI is Ann Piggott - she says they have concerns about cancelling the exams and replacing them with predictive grades so soon.
