The Justice Minister says a site has been identified for a domestic-violence refuge in Roscommon town.
Jim O'Callaghan has confirmed the news to local Sinn Féin TD Claire Kerrane.
Roscommon is one of nine counties in Ireland that doesn't have a women's refuge.
But it seems one is finally coming to the county.
Minister O'Callaghan says a suitable site has been identified in Roscommon town, and says Roscommon County Council is working to secure the site for a refuge.
He says initial site investigations are under way to complete essential site surveys, after a tender process.
Minister O'Callaghan says an expression of interest process is ongoing, and proceeding well, to identify an approved housing body partner for Roscommon Safe Link, the local domestic-violence service provider, as they don't have approved housing body status.
