Short-term letting register could free up properties

It's hoped the new register can help in the supply of properties that will become available for those in search of housing

A new short-term letting register is set to be approved by the government today, that could free-up as many as 12-thousand properties.

Anyone advertising a place to stay on the likes of airbnb for three weeks or more in a year will have to register with Fáilte Ireland.

Property owners will have to confirm they've the correct planning permission for short term letting, with penalties for non-compliance.
