Shannonside businesses inundated with bookings for re-opening

Businesses say while online shopping has helped, it doesn't compare to the in shop experience

As the Taoiseach addresses the nation to announce the easing of restrictions, Shannonside businesses are now able to plan for re-opening to customers.

Inter-county travel, meet ups in back gardens and personal services like barbers and hairdressers will all return on May 10th.

Non essential retail is expected to open their doors on May 17th with personal services  such as beauty salons following later in the month.

Perpetua McGee from Marian's boutique in Boyle says while online shopping has helped, it doesn't compare to the in shop experience.

Grainne Caldbeck of Enhance Health and Beauty in Carrick on Shannon says she's been inundated with calls from clients hoping to book in when she re-opens.

She describes how much is means to people to return to their regular appointments.
