Catherine Connolly has officially topped the poll in Longford-Westmeath, with the results of the first count just released.
The Independent TD got 59 per cent of the first preference votes, with Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys on 34 per cent and Jim Gavin on 7 per cent.
The turnout was 44 per cent and 15 per cent of the votes were spoiled.
