Rent prices across the Shannonside region have jumped at least ten percent in the second quarter of 2021 when compared to the same time last year.
A new housing report from property website Daft.ie shows that rent in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon has shown significant increases when compared to the same period in 2020.
A focus on working from home, change in employment status and housing supply has seen a renewed interest in property in rural Ireland.
The average rent in Roscommon currently stands at €829, up 16 per cent since 2020.
Leitrim has also seen a rent increase of 16 per cent, with prices around €695, while Longford's rent is up 10 per cent with rentals costing €812 on average.
Ronan Lyons, economist at Trinity College Dublin and author of the Daft report, says locations outside Dublin have seen the biggest jump.
