A public meeting will take place in Lanesboro on Monday to discuss the future of Lough Ree Power Station. The ESB-owned plant was closed in December 2020 following 62 years of electricity generation. It was originally intended to run until 2027 but ESB failed to secure permits to switch from peat burning to biomass.
