Pro-Palestinian group protests outside local Tesco in support of suspended worker

It followed a demonstration outside Tesco in Newcastle, Co Down on the 23rd of November.

A pro-Palestinian group held a demonstration outside Tesco in Roscommon yesterday after one of its stores suspended an employee for refusing to handle Israeli goods. Protestors across Ireland have called for the retailer to withdraw disciplinary action against the employee in County Down. A petition, which has collected several thousand signatures, was also set up in support of the worker. Twelve people attended the protest at the Roscommon store yesterday. It followed a demonstration outside Tesco in Newcastle, Co Down on the 23rd of November. Hannah Mole from the Roscommon Palestinian Support Group says protestors are calling for a boycott of Israeli goods:

Hannah says the protest echoes that of the historic Dunnes Stores strike against South African produce in the 1980s. She says Mary Manning, who led that strike, has offered her support to the Tesco employee:
