Politicians meet date of March 1st for return of schools with scepticism

A March the 1st date for the return of schools has been met with scepticism from most politicians.

Education Minister Norma Foley told the cabinet this morning she hoped next month would see a return to schools for all on a phased basis.

However, there's yet to be agreement with unions or other stakeholders.

A decision on the Leaving Cert has also been delayed again until later this week at the earliest.

Sinn Féin's Education Spokesman Donnchadh O'Laoghaire has said students need plans, not rumours.
