A 36-year-old man, from Poland, has been charged with the murder of a man in Co Leitrim.
Bartosz Cylka, with an address at Arderry, Corrawaleen, Co Leitrim, appeared before a special sitting of Carrick-on-Shannon District Court tonight.
Latvian Janis Balodis, 41, was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive at a home in Arderry, between Ballinamore and Carrigallen, on Thursday night.
In court tonight, Detective Sergeant Michael Kelly, from Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station, gave evidence of arrest, charge, and caution of Mr Cylka.
Mr Cylka, wearing black trousers and a top and blue runners, had no legal representation but was assisted by a Polish interpreter.
The state applied to remand Mr Cylka in custody.
Judge Eiteáin Cunningham said the accused could not make an application for bail in the district court, given the nature of the charges.
She remanded him in custody to appear again in Carrick-on-Shannon District Court on Tuesday.
