Carrick parish priest celebrates 50th anniversary of his ordination today

Fr Frank Garvey made reference to his golden jubilee at a funeral in Carrick today. 

The parish priest of Kiltoghert, which includes Carrick-on-Shannon, Jamestown, Gowel and Leitrim village, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood today.

He celebrated the Mass of 88-year-old Tom Stokes, a widely respected tinsmith and Traveller, in St Mary's Church in Carrick.

Speaking during the homily, Fr Garvey said it was a perfect way to mark his own personal milestone.
