The figures from the CSO show the total number of new and second hand cars that changed hands in 2023.

Close to 6 and a half thousand cars were registered in the Shannonside region last year. The figures from the CSO show the total number of new and second hand cars that changed hands in 2023. The Central Statistics Office recorded registrations by county over the course of last year, with Roscommon recording the highest amount. 4,570 private cars were registered in the county over the 12 months, with Nissan and Renault two of the most popular makes.

Toyota and Volkswagen were the top brands in Longford with 1,092 registrations of all types recorded in 2023. That's followed by 758 cars in Leitrim, with Audi and Toyota the most popular makes in the northwest. Nationally, 167,800 new and used vehicles hit the road over the course of last year.
