CSO stats released this week show Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon saw a minor drop in birth rates.
1,540 births were registered locally in 2024 according to the Central Statistics Office.
Roscommon saw the highest birth rate locally, with 687 births registered over the 12 months.
The average age of expectant mothers in Roscommon in 2024 was 33.
While in Longford, the average age of the mother giving birth was 32, with 472 new arrivals.
Leitrim saw both the lowest birthrate locally and the oldest average age of the mother, with 381 births at an average age of 34.
Nationally, over 54,000 births were recorded in the 12 months of 2024.
