Newspaper adverts to be published to find Anthony Waldron's Roscommon council replacement

Roscommon County Council will place an advertisement in newspapers to seek a replacement for Anthony Waldron.

People will be asked to put themselves forward for the position, after the councillor died in February.

This is not restricted to people from the Roscommon Municipal District, meaning former politician Eugene Murphy can be put forward.

The successful candidate will then be chosen by a simple majority of councillors, most likely at next month’s council meeting.

Independent councillor Tom Crosby says this process was agreed at an internal council meeting today.
