A new app for county Roscommon hopes to provide improve the survival rate for cardiac incidents.
EmCall is based on medical research which shows that sixty percent of people will survive a cardiac incident if they receive CPR and the use of a defibrillator within 6 minutes.
The app which has been developed with the suppoet of Roscommon Leader puts out an alert to emergency services, people trained in CPR in the local area and shows the nearest location of a defibrillator.
The app is free and developer John McDermott says it's about filling the vital gaps in treatment until an ambulance can reach the patient.
