Refurbishment works are due to take place in the coming weeks at Mohill Garda station.
Superintendent Chris Grogan revealed at this week's meeting of the JPC that the works are likely to result in a short-term closure of the station.
It's understood that gardaí based at the station will be temporarily relocated to Carrick-on-Shannon or Drumshanbo as well as mobile garda clinics being made available for the duration of the works.
The new garda chief in Leitrim also confirmed that similar remodeling works are planned for Kinlough station in the north of the county.
