A man is due in court in Longford this evening after Gardai stopped what has been described as a 'significant' attempted theft attempt.
Garai stopped the man as he was about to exit a Longford supermarket today with goods worth up to €600.
He was arrested and brought to Longford Garda Station for questioning.
He had been charged and is due to appear at a special sitting of Longford District Court this evening at 6pm.
It's believed the man may be part of a wider shoplifting gang operating in the midlands region in recent months.
