A 36-year-old man, charged with the murder of a man in Co Leitrim, is due to reappear in court today. He's due to appear by videolink in Carrick-on-Shannon District Court. 41-year-old Latvian Janis Balodis was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive at a home in Arderry, between Ballinamore and Carrigallen, on the night of June 11th. Polish native Bartosz Cylka, with an address at Arderry, Corrawaleen, was charged with his murder. The case came before Sligo District Court on July 9th.

The court was told directions from the DPP are still awaited in the case. Sergeant Derek Butler said it’s a ‘complex matter’ and a file is still being prepared in connection with it.

Judge Eiteáin Cunningham adjourned the case until today's sitting of Carrick-on-Shannon District Court, when the accused will again appear by videolink. Mr Cylka remains in custody
