Hundreds of thousands of euro have been announced for local projects across the Shannonside region under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
The successful projects in Roscommon are:
Dysart - Public Realm improvements, developing a community study, digital hub in an unused section of the Community Centre and signage €100,000.
Knockcroghery - Public Realm works, including landscaping, street furnishing, pavement repairs and commemorative artistic installation €100,000.
Rooskey - Provision of lighting scheme, footpath repair and replacement, tree plantings and signage scheme €100,000.
Tarmonbarry - Development of public realm enhancement with outdoor dining, provision of paved areas, and the installation of a pedestrian crossing €200,000 which has been welcomed by local Councillor Tom Crosby.
Four Roads - Public realm enhancement, including provision of a footpath, street lighting, paint scheme, landscaping, street furniture, bike rack & signage €100,000.
Croghan - Enhancement of Croghan village centre, to include a new pedestrian paved network, landscaping and enhancement of the public amenity area €100,000
Lecarrow Village enhancement - including the provision of a footpath from the marina to the village centre, provision of outdoor benches, picnic tables and the installation of public lighting €100,000
The funding has been welcomed by Senator Aisling Dolan and TD Denis Naughten and Fianna Fáil Senator Eugene Murphy has also welcomed the announcement of €1.5million in funding for a total of 13 towns and villages throughout counties Roscommon and Galway.
Cllr Tom Crosby welcomes the  funding announcement under the town and village renewal scheme which provides €200,000 funding for the development of public enhancement project for the village of Tarmonbarry to provide outdoor dining facilities in the village the provision of paved areas; traffic management including the installation of a pedestrian crossing in the village and funding of €100,000 for Rooskey village to construct a walkway/cycleway to join the village footpath with the Killinaker Bridge.
Councillor Kathleen Shanagher has also welcomed the funding announcements in Roscommon.
The successful projects in Longford are:
Ardagh - €34,117 Development of Remote Work Facilities
Edgeworthstown - €100,000 - Development of Outdoor Performance and Meeting Space
Lanesborough - €71,820 - Provision of enhanced signage and footpath linking residential areas with town centre
Barry - €100,000 - Relocation of and upgrade of Lighting to facilitate the development of the village streetscape
Ballinalee - €97,451- Enhancement of existing playground amenities by developing an autism friendly community park and provision of a walking/cycling park
In Leitrim the successful projects are:
Jamestown - €99,900 for footpath linking the circular cycling route with the Carrick loop Walkway
Dowra - €47,250 for the construction of a viewing bay at the River Shannon.
Rooskey - €99,900 for the construction of a walkway to join the Killinaker Bridge footpath.
Drumshanbo - €98,100 for the provision of additional car parking spaces in the village and enhancement of recreational facilities.
Carrigallen - €100,000 for a new footpath between the village and the west shore of the Lake Amenity.
Carrick On Shannon - €200,000 for Market Yard Improvements and Community and charity events in line with COVID19 guidelines.
The Leitrim projects have also been welcomed by Minister of State Frank Feighan and Councillor Paddy O'Rourke.
Cllr Enda Mc Gloin has expressed his delight at the decision this morning by Minister Heather Humphreys to allocated €98100 towards the enhancement of the Mart link road, Drumshanbo to include footpaths, development and completion of the car park under the Town and Village funding scheme. The total cost of the development is €109,000.
