Longford currently has the highest incidence rate of Covid-19 infections
nationwide.
Updated figures from the Health Protection and Surveillance Centre put the
national average incidence rate of cases per 100,000 at 172.
Longford's figure currently stands at over double that.
The 14 day Covid-19 incidence rate in Longford is currently 394 per
100,000.
That's almost twice the average nationwide, with Offally the only other
county reporting similar figures.
Elsewhere, other counties in the Shannonside Northern Sound region are
reporting significantly lower figures.
Cavan and Monaghan currently have rates of 137 and 159 respectively, while
Roscommon is reporting a 14 day incidence rate of 113.
Leitrim has one of the lowest figures in the country at 87 cases per
100,000.
The region's hospital have begun to see a drop in admissions for
Coronavirus, with 55 confirmed cases of the virus admitted for treatment.
Cavan General Hospital is treating 15 confirmed cases of the virus while
Midlands region Hospitals in Tullamore and Mullingar are treating 13 and 10
patients respectively.
Sligo University Hospital has 7 confirmed cases under treatment while
Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe have 2 on site.
A total of 7 patients are currently in ICU in the Shannonside Northern Sound
