The Longford scuba diving club is appealing to people using lakes or river amenities not to throw items into the water.
On a clean up of Barley harbour, members gathered items such as nails, crockery, tyres and bottles from the bed of the lake.
As well as being a hazard to the water environment, the items can been dangerous for fish and even for divers who may be called out on search and rescue operations.
Joe Kelly PRO of the Longford club says items can travel from any part of the river especially during the summer months.
