The members of Longford County Council have approved an overdraft facility of the local authority of €20 million euro.
The amount has been increased to €20 from just €5.5 million euro following a vote on it at a recent meeting of Longford County Council.
Director of Finance John McKeown confirmed that the authority didn't have to use it this year, and hopefully will not have to avail of it next year.

However, he said it was important to have the facility in place given the economic uncertainty being faced in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
