Over 1.3 million euro have been allocated by Education Minister Norma Foley to provide minor works funding to schools in the Shannonside region.
This funding can be used by primary and special schools in Leitrim, Roscommon, and Longford for maintenance and small-scale improvements.
The minor work funding can be used for mechanical and electrical improvements, physical education equipment purchases, floor coverings and IT purchases.
Schools will be paid these grants early, to allow them to plan and undertake works that will support their operation in 2023.
Both Leitrim and Longford have been given 300,000 euro each for schools under the minor works grant.
Over 700,000 euro has been allocated in grant funding to special and primary schools in the Roscommon region.
Minister Norma Foley says she believes schools should decide how to use this funding based on their specific needs, given that each is unique.
