Shannonside FM News is aware of the following incidents due to Storm Debi:

Longford:

Tree down outbound on the Longford to Drumlish Road (R198) near Creenagh

N4 Newtownforbes to Rooskey partially blocked.

Tree down in pearse view longford avoid area if possible.

Bottom of hill going Granard coming from Edgeworthstown.

Tree down half way across road on Longford to Keenagh.

A number of trees down on the Longford to Dromod road.

Carrickboy to Longford branches down.

Kilashee to Lanesboro road, tree down.

Roscommon:

Tree blocking bridge at Lisadurn

Frenchpark to Castlerea Road, tree down.

Fourmilehouse to Strokestown road, tree down.

Lecarrow- Multiple trees down and two roads blocked.

There are reports of exposed electrical wires at Arm on the Williamstown road from Castlerea. The road is blocked and motorists should avoid the area.

A tree was reported down on the L1812 at Lisdrum

 

 

Leitrim:

Tree down on the Ballinamore Road close to Carrick on Shannon.

2 tress down, Dromod to Mohill road.

Road L5515 tree down blocking road .  It’s a short cut onto the main mohill road ( Irish bridge).

Tree down just before Liscara, Carrick.

Trees and wires down past Kilclare heading to Carrick.

Road partially blocked Cloone to Mohil.

 

Irish Rail:

The line between Athlone/Portarlington has reopened following the removal of a tree on the line

Galway/Heuston has stopped passed Oranmore due to a damaged level crossing.

05:20 Athlone/Heuston has stopped again due to another tree on the line.

Sligo/Longford update:

05:40 Sligo/Connolly held in Longford

06:12  Longford/Pearse & 05:38 Longford/Pearse are moving again as trees have been removed from the line.  Substantially delayed.

05:38 Longford/Pearse stopped between Mullingar-Enfield due to another fallen tree Staff are working to rectify this matter. Update to follow

06.55 Connolly/Sligo is operating +67mins delayed due to poor weather conditions.

 

 

Bus Eireann:

Bus Éireann says there will be no scheduled services until 11am in counties in Red warning counties, as well as some Orange warning counties.

Cavan, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Westmeath and Wicklow are all affected.

The operator says a phased resumption of services will start at 11am.

 

 

Power Outages:

Close to 20,000 homes and businesses in the Shannonside Northern Sound Region are without power this morning.

Nationally, Storm Debi has resulted in At least 100-thousand houses, farms and businesses without power nationwide.

The ESB says its crews will work to restore power in the affected areas once its safe to do so.

Met Éireann’s Matthew Martin says people need to take extra precautions over the next few hours:
