The Chief Executive of Leitrim County Council is hopeful the local authority won't need to extend its overdraft facility in the short term
The Council is in the final stages of preparing its Budget for next year - with the pandemic set to have a major impact on its finances.
The Council has already spent an estimated 700,000 euro on Covid-related measures while a key income stream -commercial rates - have been deferred until 2021 as the government cover the shortfall.
Longford County Cuncil recently approved a twenty-million-euro extension of its overdraft facility to cover any extra costs that may arise due to the pandemic and a lack of funding :
Lar Power admits that while that could be an option in the future for Leitrim, it isn't up for current discussion.
