Leitrim campaign group welcomes programme for government anti fracking policy proposals

The Love Leitrim group has welcomed a commitment in the programme that the government will oppose any efforts to import fracked gas into the country.

The group has successfully lobbied for a ban on fracking in 2017 and had expressed their hopes that a plan for a controversial gas terminal at the mouth of the Shannon would be scrapped.

Chairperson Jamie Murphy is delighted with the promise given by the three parties.
