A woman in her 50s has died following a collision in Co. Cavan.
Gardaí attended the scene of a collision on the R162 at Corclare, Shercock, Co. Cavan, yesterday evening.
The collision involved a car and a truck, occurring just after 5pm.
The driver of the car, a woman aged in her 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene, and her body has been removed from the scene.
A passenger in the car, a female juvenile child, was removed from the scene to Temple Street Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
A number of other people occupants of these vehicles received medical treatment at the scene by ambulance staff. No other injuries have been reported.
The road is closed for examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place at the R162 shercock/Cootehill rd is closed at castleblaney jct traffic is being diverted onto castleblaney rd R181 to lisadarragh cross L4023 brings you back on R178 shercock/ Carrickmacross rd.
R162 shercock/Cootehill rd is also closed at the jct with L7508 Bleach rd which brings you back onto the R178 Carrickmacross rd.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Any road users who were travelling in this area between 4:45pm and 5:15pm yesterday and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
