The Director of Public Health in the HSE West says there has been a number of incidents where the contacts that one person has initiated has resulted in over 100 people returning positive Covid 19 tests.
Dr Breda Smith says similar to situations across the country social interactions outside of the home has resulted in large scale infection in the community.
So far this week, there have been 60 new cases identified in cases in Roscommon - there were 92 in positive results identified in the county in the full seven days before that.
