The Health and Safety authority are set to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Longford yesterday. Gardaí and Emergency services responded to a medical incident which occurred at a sports facility in Longford Town at around 10.40am. Gardaí say a man, aged in his 50s, was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar where he was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination will take place in due course, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation. The local coroner has also been informed of the incident.
