Tony Canavan says it is alarming and striking how quickly cases have risen since Christmas Day.

According to new HSE information, 1,151 people with Covid-19 are being treated in Irish hospitals this morning - a record total for the third day in a row.

32 people with Covid are being treated at Cavan University Hospital - including four new admissions in the last day.

18 people at Sligo are being treated for Coronavirus - thirteen in Tullamore, eight at Portiuncula hospital in Ballinasloe and six in Mullingar.
