Gardai in Castlerea are appealing for any information relating to the theft of two gates from Rathmoyle Cemetery in Kilmurray between Castlerea and Tulsk.
The gates were specially made for the small cemetery in recent years.
Rathmoyle was gifted to the local community as a cemetery in 1921 by the Irwin family and it has been maintained by the local community since then.
The gates are believed to have been stolen sometime in the last 24 hours and gardai are asking anyone who might have noticed a van or truck being driven in any suspicious manner in the area to contact them at Castlerea garda station.
Local councillor Liam Callaghan says the community is totally shocked and disappointed at the theft and he's appealing for whoever took them to bring them back.
