There is an urgent need for a primary care centre in Ballaghaderreen, according to a local elections candidate. The west Roscommon town's population has increased by 56 per cent over the past eight years - but it still only has two GPs.

There have long been plans for a primary care centre in Ballaghaderreen, but they have never progressed. Aidan Sampey, who is running for Fianna Fáil in the local elections, says they need to finally materialise.
