The Head of Enterprise at Leitrim County Council says funding for a new food tourism project in the region couldn't have come at a better time.
The "Taste Leitrim Food and Drink Experiences project" which was launched last year includes the printing of a guide to foods in the county and raising awareness of the local produce that is available.
The scheme involves the distribution of the food guide to chefs and restaurants in the county and surrounds, and help for producers to develop "Taste Leitrim" food gifts that can be put in hampers or made as vouchers.
Joe Lowe who's head of the Local Enterprise Office in Leitrim says they are very happy to have secured funding of €22,000 under the agri-tourism scheme and it'll be even more necessary now to help promote the county.
