There have been four incidents at level crossings in Roscommon in the past year.
Irish Rail is trying to raise awareness this week of the dangers at crossings and says there have been 31 incidents already this year nationwide.
Later this year, Go Safe cameras will be located at the crossing in Knockcroghery, which has seen a number of incidents in recent years.
The cameras will record motorists and automatically issue fines of one hundred and sixty euro for speeding, or 80 euro for breaking a red light - with three penalty points for either offence.
