The services include a new late service leaving Dublin Heuston at 8.30.

The plans were approved following the submission of further information by Irish Rail and are subject to 9 planning conditions.

Irish Rail also said it was not possible to source replacement buses as they were all in use due to the Bruce Springsteen concert taking place in Croke Park.

Irish Rail confirmed the deferred Connolly-Sligo service departed Edgeworthstown 109 minutes late after Gardaí were called.

It's now available for all intercity train bookings except the Dublin to Belfast line. 

From Tuesday, customers will no longer have to print their ticket from a machine at train stations, and can instead use their phones to get on board.

The line is closed in both directions until further notice and Irish Rail say they will provide an update in due course. 

Parts of the station including toilets and indoor waiting areas were shut at times over last year due to staff shortages.
